NTK Temperature sensors
Modern exhaust aftertreatment systems required control in regard to efficiency and component protection. The exhaust temperature sensor serves as a temperature monitor for turbochargers, catalytic converters, diesel particle filters and nitrogen oxide reduction systems.
It is used for monitoring the optimal operating point as well as for potential protection of temperature overload of the relevant components, thus making it an important component for the reduction of unnecessary harmful emissions from vehicles.
Function
The sensor element is positioned at the tip of the sensor casing. The element is an NTC type, which means a semiconductor resistor with a negative temperature coefficient. It has high resistance at low temperatures and low resistance at high temperatures. The element material is based on a Perovskite structure, formed through alloys of titanium trioxide (TiO3).
Characteristics of NTK exhaust temperature sensors:
- Measurement range: -40 °C to 900 °C
- Rapid step response
- Temperature resistance
- Sturdy against vibrations
- Highly precise
