LPG/CNG spark plugs
LPG LaserLine spark plugs are dual precious metal spark plugs when were specifically developed for gas-fuelled engines. The combustion of gas is very different from the combustion of petrol and, therefore, requires spark plugs which are specially adapted to these conditions.
The gas-air mixtures are more difficult to ignite. More ignition voltage is required and the risk of failure of the ignition coils increases. A narrow, laser-welded middle electrode with iridium chip which gets by on less ignition voltage counteracts this. In addition, the electrode distance is pre-set to only 0.8 mm.
The combustion of gas results in higher temperatures. Conventional electrode and housing materials wear out more quickly. That is not the case with iridium, which is used on the middle electrode of LPG LaserLine spark plugs. For the same purpose the earth electrode has a platinum chip.
A special coating protects the housing of the spark plug against corrosion. A copper core in the earth electrode supports optimal thermal conductivity.
