Hybrid spark plugs
Hybrid technology was developed for engines which tend towards increased carbon depositing as a result of their design. They combine the features of platinum spark plugs and semi-surface ignition type spark plugs. They have a "normal" earth electrode as well as two smaller earth electrodes to the side.
The platinum electrode keeps the ignition voltage requirement down and ensures an optimal spread of the flame front. Thanks to the resilience of platinum, the electrode gap remains nearly constant over the entire service life.
The semi-surface ignition technology ensures for an optimal cold start in the case of clogging from carbon deposits and for the removal of carbon deposits even at temperatures below the self-cleaning temperature.
