One centre, five subsidiaries
Germany was carefully selected as the location for the European centre of operations: The country represents one of Europe's most important automobile markets. No other country on the continent is home to a comparable number of headquarters for top-ranking vehicle manufacturers.
From the company headquarters in Ratingen, NGK Spark Plug Europe GmbH serves automobile manufacturers and the parts business in Germany and much of Europe. In addition, subsidiaries have been established in Italy, Poland, Spain, Russia and Turkey in order to remain as close to the customer as possible.
Success story of NGK in Europe
The success story of NGK in Europe began more than 30 years ago: In 1979 NGK Spark Plug Deutschland GmbH, the predecessor of today's NGK Spark Plug Europe GmbH, was founded. Since then, NGK has developed from a spark plug supplier for Japanese motorcycles to one of the leading technological partners of automobile manufacturers and the trade in Europe.
Today there is almost no automobile manufacturer without products from NGK. Spark plug example: In 1976 Saab began equipping vehicles with NGK spark plugs. Bentley followed in 1983 and in 1987 the manufacturers Maserati, Renault and Rolls Royce began using NGK spark plugs. In the 1990s Alfa Romeo, Audi, VW, BMW, Opel, Fiat, Jaguar, Smart, Renault, Ferrari, DaimlerChrysler, Volvo and Seat switched to NGK. In the new millennium, Maybach and Range Rover joined the ranks.
Highly efficient logistics
NGK has a highly efficient, modern storage facility in Ratingen for original equipment and the parts business. From there, the company's products are sent to customers in the automobile industry and trade throughout Europe - with extremely low error rates.
In-house technology centre
NGK also has its own special technology centre in Ratingen. Here, spark plugs, glow plugs and lambda sensors are put through their paces in collaboration with automobile manufacturers before receiving approval for serial production.
