Ceramic glow plugs

There are two types of ceramic glow plugs:

1. Quick-start glow plugs

The temperature rise if very rapid – faster than in quick-start sheathed type glow plugs. The voltage generated is precisely controlled by a special control unit or glow relay.

2. Self-regulating glow plugs

Comparable with the “pencil” – self-regulating ceramic glow plugs are also equipped with a heating and voltage regulating control coil. The latter reduces the current intensity as the temperature increases.

Faster temperature rise and conductivity

Note:

This type of glow plug needs hardly any external control as it is self-regulating.
